Kanika Kapoor Coronavirus Row: Sonam Kapoor Receives Flak For Supporting The Singer, ‘Advisories Were Already In Place’
Singer Kanika Kapoor returned from London after which the news of her being tested positive for COVID-19, created headlines. However, what shocked the readers was the singer having symptoms of Coronavirus despite which she refrained from self-isolating herself and going on partying and meeting people. While netizens slammed her for her irresponsible behaviour, fashionista Sonam Kapoor just gave out deets about her return to India on May 9, when India was not self-isolating, but having holi parties in full swing instead.

As soon as Sonam tweeted this, editor of Quint Nishtha Gautam, replied to Sonam informing many holi parties being cancelled. And even if there were holi parties in town did that allow Kanika to be irresponsible. The conversation between the two did not end here as Sonam went on to mention how she did not celebrate holi and the need of the hour is empathy and understanding. Further replying to Sonam she mentioned in her Tweet how this mistake and fear has put many lives at threat.

Sonam’s Tweet read, “Hey guys @TheKanikakapoor came back on the 9th. India was not self isolating but playing Holi.” To which Nishtha Gautam replied, “No, Sonam. Maybe you were, many of us weren't. Even @PMOIndia & others had announced cancellation of Holi Milan events. Advisories were in place and India had already recorded 44 cases. Even if all were playing Holi, it gives her a free pass to be criminally evasive? #Covid_19”

Sonam replied to Nishtha and tweeted, “I wasn’t playing holi. I was sitting at home. Don’t you think empathy and understanding is the need of the hour. People make mistakes because of lack of understanding and fear. Let’s not ostracise anyone.”  With Nishtha and Sonam closing their conversation with, “I agree on empathy but it cuts both ways. Yes, we make mistakes but a mistake that endangers lives of many is not to be taken lightly. Maybe that’s why we have relevant sections in the IPC. As for holi, neither you nor I played, & many more didn’t either.
